TANZANIA
Tanzania, with an extension of 945.000 km2 that includes
the Zanzibar Archipelago, is the largest country in South-oriental
Africa. Tanzania shares borders with Kenya and Uganda to
the north, with Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic
of Congo to the west, with Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique
to the south, and with the Indian Ocean to the east.
Tanzania had a population of 37.445.392
people in the year 2006 and keeping in mind the high mortality
because of the HIV-AIDS virus. A forth of the population
lives in the cities and life expectancy is 42 years.
THE
PROBLEM
Tanzania, in spite of being one of the most beautiful
and wild countries in Africa, carries the burden of a hard
reality:
Poverty and disease cripples the population, especially
in rural areas and in the city outskirts, whereby slowing
the development of the country.
The AIDS virus is nowadays one of the greatest threats for
the Tanzanian population.
